The PCR-MA AC power supply series is a PWM inverter type (switching) power supply that builds on the success of our conventional model, the PCR-M. Maximum output voltage has been increased to 310Vrms AC while maintaining a compact, portable design. The digital interface now includes LAN (LXI) and USB as standard, with GPIB as a factory option for easy integration into any test system. The LXI compliant LAN interface allows the operator to easily monitor and control the instrument via virtual interface wherever they are. Various features including a remote sensing function have been introduced to ensure precise voltage and current measurements. Other features including DC mode, memory functions, and various protections make the PCR-MA the most accessible AC power supply on the market.

Only 214W X 124H X 350D mm !
Weights only 6 kg and easy to carry !
(PCR500MA)
- Selectable output modes
In addition to “AC mode” and “DC mode”, an AC+DC external analog interface board option (EX08-PCR-MA) allows for output control via “EXT-AC mode” and “EXT-DC mode” through external analog signals.
- Memory function
The PCR-MA can store up to three sets of output voltage, frequency, and limit value setting via front panel. Additionally, when using communication commands, the internal memory can store up to 11 settings.
- Versatile measurement capability
THE PCR-MA is capable of measuring the voltage, current and power of AC and DC output. It can also display the true RMS and average (DC) values of the output voltage as well as the true RMS, peak, and average (DC) values for the output current. When used with digital interface, the PCR-MA can also measure apparent power (VA), reactive power (VAR), power factor (PF), and peak hold current.
- Communication interface
LAN and USB digital interface included (GPIB optional)
- Easy access with the built-in web server
Use a browser from a PC, smartphone, or tablet to access the web server built into the PCR-MA series for convenient control and monitoring.
What is the maximum AC output voltage of the Kikusui PCR-MA series?
Maximum output is 310 Vrms AC. That covers 120 Vrms for North America and 230 Vrms for Australasia and Europe, with enough margin above those figures to run overvoltage tests without a separate amplifier.
That headroom is useful for simulating overvoltage conditions required by IEC 61000-4-11 testing, which calls for sustained output above nominal mains voltage. Engineers doing electrical safety compliance testing will find the PCR-MA listed alongside other safety testing instruments in Electrotest’s Electronic category.
Can the Kikusui PCR-MA simulate DC voltage output as well as AC?
Yes. The PCR-MA has selectable AC and DC modes. An optional external analogue interface board (EX08-PCR-MA) adds two more modes for controlling the output via external analogue signals, covering both AC and DC scenarios from the same instrument.
That dual-mode capability saves a lot of bench reshuffling when you are testing universal-input power supplies or battery chargers, which need to pass both AC and DC compliance checks. For test setups that also need something on the sink side, Electrotest’s electronic load range includes compatible AC and DC loads.
What power and current measurements can the Kikusui PCR-MA make on its output?
The display shows true RMS voltage, average DC voltage, true RMS current, peak current, and average DC current. Connect it via LAN or USB, and you also get apparent power in VA, reactive power in VAR, power factor, and peak hold current.
For a lot of bench work, that is enough to skip a separate power analyser entirely, which keeps the setup compact and cuts down the number of instruments needing calibration. When a test calls for harmonic analysis or long-term logging, Electrotest’s power quality analysers and loggers extend what the PCR-MA’s built-in metering can do.
How is the Kikusui PCR-MA controlled remotely, and does it support smartphone or tablet access?
LAN and USB are standard, with GPIB as a factory option. The PCR-MA also runs a web server, so you can pull up a browser on a phone, tablet, or PC on the same network and control it from there. Nothing to install.
That browser access is genuinely useful on a production floor where someone needs to check a running test from across the room, or in field service where carrying a workstation is not practical. The PCR-MA is available from Electrotest’s Kikusui brand page, which also lists the PWR-01 DC supply and PBZ bipolar supply for teams building complete power test systems.
How compact and portable is the Kikusui PCR-MA series AC power supply?
The PCR500MA is 214 mm wide, 124 mm high, and 350 mm deep, and weighs 6 kg. It fits on a standard bench and is light enough to carry to a test site without any particular effort.
For compliance engineers who move between sites, or field service teams who need a programmable AC source in their kit, the PCR-MA is genuinely portable in a way that rack-only AC supplies are not. Electrotest also maintains a range of equipment available for rent, which can make sense for short-term compliance projects where buying a dedicated AC supply is hard to justify.
