Description
The Melting Point Apparatus is designed for determining the identity and purity of compounds in synthetic chemistry labs. It features a built-in 3x magnifying eyepiece for easy observation of the melting process and requires Bluetooth pairing with PASCO’s software for temperature monitoring and graphing. Users can add a USB eyepiece camera (sold separately) to view and record the process on a larger screen and review time-synced images for accurate melting point determination.
Key features include:
- Quick Ramp: Heats quickly to the melting point with a controlled tail-off rate to prevent overshooting.
- Hold: Ensures uniform temperature before proceeding.
- Prompt: Requests confirmation to proceed, ensuring students are ready to observe.
- Start/Stop Image Capture: Controls and records image capture rates, with playback features in Capstone, SPARKvue, and chemvue for accurate temperature determination.
The software provides options for timed ramping and temperature hold, and a cooling fan rapidly returns the block to room temperature.
